Iguá Institute

The Iguá Sustainability Institute was born from Iguá Saneamento’s intention to make a difference in the sector, promoting the expansion of the social impact of this activity. To this end, it took on an ambitious mission: to contribute to the universalization of sanitation in Brazil, through the promotion of innovation and education for sustainable development.

We understand that working in sanitation goes far beyond treating and supplying water and collecting and treating sewage. Working with water and sewage services means bringing dignity, health and future prospects to thousands of Brazilians. We encourage awareness of nature’s cycles and act in full harmony with them, enabling the preservation of natural resources and sustainable development.

We operate on four axes:

1. Promote access to treated water and sanitation for communities in vulnerable situations;

2. Stimulate the creation of innovative solutions for water and sanitation;

3. Develop educational initiatives regarding the importance of the water cycle;

4. Consolidate an active stance in contributing to the formulation of public policies for the sector.

The challenge is so great that we don’t even dare to think about doing anything alone. Our path is that of articulation. We believe in the complementarity of sectors and actors, which together can add investments, knowledge and networks to promote systemic transformation and an expansion of social impact.
